Interactive Map of Romantic Cities

Here is an overview of the 14 most romantic cities in Germany:

Methodology

The data set was initially based on an examination of the Google search volume for romantic keywords, such as 'Valentine's Day Berlin,' in all 2,058 German cities from the list of the Federal Statistical Office. Based on the results, the top 100 cities with the most search volume per resident and the top 100 with the most search volume per area were identified. Only these cities were considered for further analysis. Due to some duplications, a list consisting of 135 German cities was compiled.

These were then further analyzed. To ensure better comparability and fairness towards smaller cities, the number of romantic restaurants and cinemas was divided by the area in square kilometers. For Instagram posts, the number was divided by the population.

Except for the bonus points category, where a maximum of 4 points were awarded, the cities could earn a maximum of 5 points in each of the other categories, with a maximum total of 24 points. In the end, the cities that achieved the highest scores based on all criteria were crowned the 14 most romantic cities.
