Ladies of Legend: Finding Home

5 Pixies

The four stories in the LADIES OF LEGEND: FINDING HOME anthology are heartwarming, exciting, lustful, scintillating, and encouraging. For every protagonist-female and male-in these tales, there truly is a second chance in life, and one just needs to recognize it and then to reach for the brass ring. Life doesn't leave you behind in Legend, TN; instead, it offers you more and better than any option you've ever had. Readers will be eagerly awaiting more stories set in lovely little Legend, TN, as is this reviewer. You'll walk away from this anthology with a gladdened heart. — Frost

The town of Legend Tennessee has been brought to vibrant life by these four wonderful authors. From a picturesque downtown to a beautiful lake, the settings only enhance the stories of the residents of Legend Tennessee. From the town hero/football coach to the owner of the local Bed and Breakfast, the residents find true love no matter how hard they fight against it. Whether trying to get a new start on life or to preserve your way of living, the residents that make up Legend Tennessee make you feel like you are coming home. Heart warming stories with plenty of spice make this book an extremely enjoyable read and I recommend it highly. It's definitely going on my keeper shelf. My Lord Raven

Dark Angel Reviews

https://www.darkangelreviews.com/My_Lord_Raven.html

4 ½ pixies

MY LORD RAVEN is authored by the prolific Jan Scarbrough, who stars in the LADIES OF LEGEND, TN Series as well. Ms. Scarbrough knows her history, and readers will find MY LORD RAVEN both accurate and its detailed settings compelling. From the initial scenes of the tournament at which Lady Catrin's twin jousts in competition with the King's own champion, the King's Raven, readers will discover themselves enthralled and racing through the story to discover the truths behind the murders of Catrin's family and the real nature of the King's Raven. Rich in detail, vivid in imagery, MY LORD RAVEN is a fine introduction to the period and an excellent historical backdrop to the romance building between Bran ap Madog-Lord Raven-and Lady Catrin, who has disguised herself as her shy, reticent cousin. Ms. Scarbrough demonstrates a talent for building both female and male characters, and peeling away their layers to reveal the real personas beneath the social/political masks. MY LORD RAVEN appeals to fans of historical fiction and romance, but will be enjoyable for any reader. — Frost

4 Blue Ribbons

4 Ribbons - a book I would recommend to all my friends

‘Looks can be deceiving' is the theme of Jan Scarbrough's latest release, MY LORD RAVEN.

Bran ap Madog is one of King Edward's most trusted warriors.  Ever since saving the king's life when they were younger, Bran has had the king's ear and been his champion.  Finally, after years of service to Edward, Bran is rewarded with a keep of his very own and a betrothed wife to go along with it.  Duty bound to accept this prize, Bran yearns to have a home and the love of his wife.  He is tired of battle and wants nothing more than to settle down and be a landowner.  Why then does he continue to think about the girl he met on the jousting field?

Lady Catrin Fitzalen is still reeling from the death of her father and then in a matter of hours, her brother as well.  Who is the murderer? Rumors abound and the information leads to only one man - the King's own champion, Bran ap Madog.  Seeking the truth, Catrin sets out for home only to be accosted and left for dead by unknown assailants.  Escaping to her cousin's castle, Catrin and her cousin come up with a plan and it includes Catrin marrying Lord Raven.  The fact that he thinks she is her cousin makes the marriage easier to bear until the unthinkable happens.  Catrin falls in love with her husband no matter that she thinks he is the one that killed her brother.

A good historical romance is a wonderful thing and in Jan Scarbrough's case, a well written and beautifully characterized historical romance is one that I will read over and over again.  MY LORD RAVEN is such a romance.  It captured my attention, held me spellbound, and I was on the edge of my seat for the duration.  In my opinion, nothing is better than that!

I finished a wonderful book yesterday. My Lord Raven by Jan Scarbrough was a wonderful historical romance set during the reign of Edward I. The King's Champion, also known as the King's Raven, has cultivated a ruthless and merciless reputation at the direction of his king. Rumors fly that he has even committed murder. Most particularly the murder of the father and brother of Catrin Fitzalen. When Catrin learns her delicate and timid cousin Olwen, a ward of the crown, is to be married to The King's Raven she knows the poor girl, better suited for a nunnery, would never survive the marriage. Determined to save what's left of her family and certain she can find the truth behind her father and brother's deaths, Catrin switches places with Olwen as the girl flees for a convent. When the King finally listens to the rumors and placed his Champion under arrest, Catrin knows her deception must end and that she is the best hope of saving the man she now knows could not have committed the crimes. But once she reveals herself, she could well lose him forever. This book was published by Resplendence Publishing and is one of those that will be read again and again.
